Music style: Afro beat, reggae, acoustic, world beat.

Armed with: Lead vocals, alto sax and rhythm guitar.

Wishes he had: An Australian Aboriginal instrument called the berimbau.

First record bought: Bon Jovi, Slippery When Wet on cassette tape.

First concert: A free performance by Burning Spear at Central Park's "Summer Stage" concert series, in 1995 or 1996.

Listening to: Ayo and Norrisman.

While cleaning: Reggae and Haitian kompa music.

Album that changed his life: Bob Marley & The Wailers, Legend.

Inspired his first notes: My mother's encouragement and support of musical education in my life.

Started singing: At age 6 in church choir.

Always wins: Chess.

Last thing he chugged: A "Paradise Roots" drink.

Reading: The Kebra Negast (an account of the origins of the Solomonic line of the Emperors of Ethiopia).

On TV: "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" and "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations."

Most memorable shows: I.N.I. Souljahs reggae band show at Ocean Mist in R.I. this summer.
