The Best of New Haven just keeps getting better

Whoopee! Here we go again! Our annual springtime ritual, the New Haven Advocate Best of New Haven, is always a cause for celebration. Yes, that includes some actual dancing-and-drinking parties—we hope you’ll be able to join us for our Readers Appreciation Party May 21 at BAR, and Best Of winners have already been alerted to an invitation-only shindig in their honor. But there are plenty of other ways to honor The Best of New Haven. You’ll see many familiar faces among the winners (voted on, as usual, by Advocate readers), but when you read about them you’ll notice that none of them have been resting on their laurels—there’ve been countless changes and improvements, so if you haven’t visited any of these landmarks lately, consider this a wake-up call.

There are also plenty of first-time winners, including some businesses that didn’t even exist to be eligible for last year’s awards. Check them out. Greater New Haven’s a thriving, changing, continually rejuvenating and reinvigorating place. This Best Of tradition of ours may be decades old, but it’s all about what’s new.

This week we list the winners of our arts, sports, health and culinary categories. Stay tuned next week for Volume 2, which spans clothing to cars, hobbies to CDs, home & garden to doctor’s offices and other professional services.
